Dare To Be Different 26 Week Mentoring Program

A Proven Model for Lasting Change

Launching Fall 2026, our comprehensive 26-Week Youth Leadership & Mentorship Program provides at-risk youth ages 11-18 with the structure, guidance, and skills they need to transform their lives. Built on the success of our Summer 2025 pilot program—which served 15 youth with 100% participation and measurable behavioral improvements—this expanded model offers sustained mentorship throughout the entire school year.

Every week from August through May, participants engage in small-group mentoring, hands-on career exploration, academic enrichment, and community service. This isn't a short-term intervention—it's a journey of transformation that builds identity, purpose, and resilience.

✓ Validated by Our Summer 2025 Pilot Program

  •  In Summer 2025, we tested our model with 15 youth over 5 intensive days at Wilderness Works and the Youth Leadership Center.

  • The results: 100% attendance, noticeable improvements in confidence and communication, and overwhelming demand from families for continued programming.

  • This pilot proved our approach works—now we're ready to scale it.

Mentorship & Leadership Development

At the heart of our program is consistent, caring mentorship. Each youth is paired with a trained mentor who provides weekly guidance, accountability, and encouragement. Through small-group sessions, youth develop:

  • Identity & Purpose: Understanding who they are and what they're capable of
  • Emotional Intelligence: Managing emotions, building resilience, and healthy relationships
  • Leadership Skills: Public speaking, conflict resolution, decision-making
  • Behavior Correction: Tools to redirect negative patterns and build positive habits

Our mentors don't just show up once, they become trusted allies who walk alongside youth through challenges and celebrate their victories.

Career Exploration & Life Skills

Youth gain hands-on exposure to real-world careers and entrepreneurship through:

  • Entrepreneurship Training: Business planning, marketing basics, financial literacy
  • Creative & Technical Trades: Media production, fashion design, barbering, automotive tech, digital arts
  • Professional Development: Resume building, interview skills, workplace etiquette
  • Life Skills: Time management, budgeting, communication, goal-setting

Every participant completes a Capstone Project—a real business, creative work, or social initiative they design, develop, and present at program end. This builds confidence, ownership, and tangible skills for the future..

Summer Leadership Experience

The mentorship doesn't stop when school ends. Our 4-5 week Summer Leadership Experience (June) keeps youth engaged during the critical summer months through:

  • Outdoor Adventures & Team Building: Field trips, group challenges, experiential learning
  • Continued Mentorship: Same trusted mentors reinforcing accountability and identity
  • Vocational Exposure: Light, high-energy introduction to creative trades
  • Service Projects: Community-based learning rooted in purpose and collaboration

This summer component provides a positive, structured alternative to idle time—keeping youth off the streets and locked into their development journey.

Why This Program Matters

Welcome to Dare To Be Different Mentoring Youth Organization and Center

In Georgia, the juvenile recidivism rate is 65%—more than double the adult rate. High school dropouts commit 75% of crimes, and students who struggle in middle school have a 75% chance of dropping out. Without intervention, many at-risk youth cycle through detention, instability, and limited opportunity.

But it doesn't have to be this way. Our Summer 2025 pilot showed that when youth are given consistent mentorship, structured programming, and caring adults who believe in them, transformation happens. Confidence grows. Communication improves. Behavior changes. Hope is restored.

The 26-Week Program takes this proven model and extends it throughout the entire school year—giving youth the sustained support they need to build new identities, break negative cycles, and step into their full potential.
